My Soul Train – Thankful

It is today. My birthday. The day of my birth.

I did not know what I will be today. I have been somewhat down, in mind and spirit, as the day drew close. But now I wake up and I see this day, I finally know what I am.

This is my 39th step. The 39th Step (2)

If life is a walk, and every year is one step, then this is my 39th step.

A whole lot of folks started this walk with my, on their own lane, in 1977, many have long come to the end of their walk, they have long taken their last step… but I am still walking. I am “a walk in progress”. For that, that utter graciousness of God to keep me here still despite all of my unworthiness, I am thankful.

Soul Train – Judge Not!

This was titled: A sobering scripture. I decided to share it here after it was part of our family morning devotion because it actually touched me.

Does it shock you how we’re most often very quick to judge? Is it not amusing, ridiculous even, how “sinners” like us are most often “righteously” enraged by another’s sin?

I was thinking about it and I said to my husband that I feel like we sometimes judge, when we publicly do so, because we are afraid that if we do not loudly condemn the sin of the “sinner”, we would be looked upon as if we are condoning that sin.

Soul Train – Express Your Love

“The Lord makes you increase and abound in love to one another and to all.” 1 Thessalonians 3:12 NKJV

As C.W. Vanderbergh wrote, “To love the whole world for me is no chore. My only real problem is my neighbour next door.”

Most businesses would benefit greatly if bosses truly loved their employees, and the workers knew it. Most marriages would be happier, if spouses heard and saw constant reminders that they were loved by their mates. Most families would be happier, if parents consistently and lovingly affirmed their children.

Smile and Silence

Successful people have two things on their lips, “SMILE and SILENCE”.

Smile can solve problems while Silence can avoid problems.

Sugar and salt can be mixed together but ants reject the salt and carry away only the sugar. Select the right people in life and make your life better and sweeter. If you fail to achieve your dreams, change your ways, not your God. Remember, trees change their leaves and not their roots.

You will never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones to every dog that barks.

Haters will see you walking on water and say it’s because you can’t swim. Even if you dance on water, your enemies will accuse you of raising dust.

Make it your ambition to live a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your own hands.

Remember, don’t ever wrestle with a pig. You will both get dirty, but the pig will enjoy it.

Soul Train – When God Orders

A very poor woman called a Christian radio station asking for help. A bad, evil man who was listening to the radio program decided to make something out of it. He got her address, called his Secretary and ordered her to buy food and take to the woman with the following instruction:

“When the woman asks who sent the food, tell her that it’s from the devil.”

Soul Train – Where is your Integrity?

Integrity, a lot of us use that word and even ascribe it to our person, but do we really know the meaning?

A simple dictionary meaning defines ‘Integrity’ as the quality of possessing and steadfastly adhering to high moral principles or professional standards. It also means a state of being complete and whole.

Do you possess integrity?

New Year’s Resolutions

New Year’s Resolutions, do you believe in them?

A New Year’s resolution is now a tradition where someone makes a promise, to oneself and to others, to do an act of self-improvement or something really nice beginning the new year.

How did it begin?

New Year’s resolution started Pre-Christian era, beginning with the Babylonians who made promises to their gods about the month of March and then was changed by the Romans who made promises to their own gods in the month of January. There is also talk about the medieval era when Knights took the peacock vow at the end of the Christmas season each year to reaffirm their commitment to chivalry.

However it all started, today it’s a popular tradition. I don’t quite believe in it, as I have found that before the end of even that first month of January, my resolutions become ‘wishes where beggars never ride’. But this new year, I want and am making a different resolution. Mostly I keep my ‘short-lived’ resolutions private, but I want to share it this time. It’s a trick. I am usually bound by my belief in integrity to keep a promise I’ve publicly made. So, I’m hoping and determined to keep this one.

TM’s New Year’s Resolutions:

To conduct myself with DIGNITY, LOVE, INTEGRITY, PRIDE and DISTINCTION in my duties and talents. And to Approach and Remain in God’s Presence with FAITH, TRUST, HUMILITY, LOVE and EXCELLENCE IN PRAYER.

That is mine. I hope you share yours. Have a Happy and Prosperous 2016.
