A very poor woman called a Christian radio station asking for help. A bad, evil man who was listening to the radio program decided to make something out of it. He got her address, called his Secretary and ordered her to buy food and take to the woman with the following instruction:

“When the woman asks who sent the food, tell her that it’s from the devil.”

When the Secretary arrived, the woman was so happy and she started putting the food inside.

The Secretary asked her. “Don’t you want to know what sent the food?”

The woman answered. “No, it doesn’t matter, because when God orders, even the devil obeys.”

The Secretary was speechless.

God is Almighty; Omnipotent. He is the Creator. His word is law. And all are meant to obey His law.

By our natural human inclinations, we are susceptible to disobedience… it is how we got here in the first place. Though that maybe our natural inclination, it is not our God-given true nature. For parents, you will easily recognise this fact because whatever age your child is, you want them obeying you. And you hardly ever welcome any forgivable excuse for disobedience.

God too is a parent. He is our Father and He wants us obeying Him. Matter of fact, as the Almighty Father, He actually demands obedience. Satan is in hell and forever will remain there because God ordered it so.

Our Soul Train word for today says when God orders, we are all meant to obey.

What is that commandment of God that is a burden to your soul? What is that personal instruction He’s given to you? Remember, God will not give us a burden that we cannot bear. His burden is light and His yoke is easy. His commandments are actually easy to obey… if we apply our willpower.

Is it not easier to not fornicate (keep off sex outside of marriage) than to be forced down the route of abortion or be tormented by a sexual transmitted disease? Is it not easier to live a conscience-peaceful life than to be secretly tormented everyday although you put on an outward brave face?

If He has ordered, let us be good children and obey.

May we be blessed with the grace of obedience this week.
